THOUSANDS TURN OUT TO ENJOY THE AUTUMN SHOW & GAME FAIR

Last weekend over 13,000 people turned out to support The South of England Agricultural Society’s Autumn Show & Game Fair at the South of England Showground in Ardingly, West Sussex.

The show was organised as part of the Society’s charitable remit to showcase and celebrate agriculture and countryside pursuits. Any profits will be put towards helping the Society fulfil its educational work from inspiring school children to learn about food production and appreciate the value of our countryside, to offering travel bursaries for people working in the farming sector or helping fund agricultural research.

The show itself, which ran through the weekend (5th & 6th October), offered a whole host of hands-on activities, including country sports, countryside inspired workshops, and animal meet & greets. Furthermore, the show featured tractor and Scammel engine displays, horticultural competitions, and a jam-packed programme of entertainment for the whole family including Jonathan Marshall’s world-famous equine and falconry display.

Interaction was at the heart of this year’s show with visitors of all ages participating in over a dozen have-a-go activities including many with their four-legged dog companions, as well as clay pigeon shooting sessions, bushcraft workshops, fly fishing, blacksmithing, archery, axe throwing and more.

Iain Nicol, CEO of The South of England Agricultural Society, said:

“It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying our Autumn Show & Game Fair at the showground and supporting our charity’s work. I hope everyone who attended gained some new insights into our beautiful countryside, maybe found a new countryside activity to enjoy or simply spent time with their family enjoying the great autumn outdoors.

“We are now turning our attention to our final show of the year – the Winter Fair. Taking place next month, over the weekend of 23rd and 24th November, this show will be a shopper’s paradise providing the perfect opportunity to get the Christmas preparations sorted whilst enjoying a festive family day out. We’ve just announced our new chocolate workshops and wreath-making sessions so we’re all very excited to get the festive celebrations started.”

Tickets for the Winter Fair 2019 cost £5.85 for adults and £4.95 for seniors/students (inclusive of a 10% online discount which ends midnight 22.11.19). *Under 16s go free with a paying adult. Click here for tickets.
