Dog activities at the Autumn Show & International Horse Trials

Discover an array of exciting dog activities at the Autumn Show & International Horse Trials. These ever-popular events are a must see for any dog lover – and all dog owners are welcome to bring their dog along to compete. You can also see our gundog demonstration and displays, and learn about greyhounds, whippets and lurchers with the Sussex Longdog Association.

Gundog Scurry competition

The gundog scurries are fun to take part in and fun to watch! It’s open to all dog breeds – just come along and enter on the day from 10am with last entries at 3pm. Dogs compete to retrieve a dummy in the fastest time. Whether you’re a newcomer to this energetic event or a champion, come along with your dog and watch or join in the fun! Proceeds go to the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust.

Terrier Racing - Sponsored by Bodle Bros

Watch terriers live up to their name as they tear up the course in this action-packed event! The races are open to all Terrier type or size dogs – just turn up and get involved and you might get a rosette. Additional charges apply for ‘have a go’.

Gundog Demonstrations

Come and see spaniels and retrievers do what they do best as they demonstrate their talents at the highly entertaining display. Find out about the different stages of gundog training from basic puppy obedience through to advanced work. Performances are unrehearsed so anything could happen and children might get the chance to join in!

Rare Breed Gundogs & Terriers

Come to the Countryside Ring area and see these rare breed dogs and learn about the efforts being made to preserve them for future generations. You can also meet them and their owners in the kennel area.

Longdogs

Meet the team from the Sussex Longdog Association and find out about greyhounds, whippets and lurchers in the kennel area at the show.
