The South of England Agricultural Society was celebrating last night as they received the bronze award – in the category of ‘Experience and Event of the Year’ at the Beautiful South Tourism Awards, held and organised by Tourism South East, for their annual event, the South of England Show, last held in June 2021.
The in-person ceremony held at The Grand hotel in Brighton, brought together more than 50 finalists and showcased the very best the South East has to offer across the tourism and hospitality industries.
The Society was thrilled to take the award in the Experience and Event of the Year category for the South of England Show after being shortlisted alongside other established recognised attractions. The category recognised providers of truly memorable and immersive tourism events and festivals which make a contribution to the visitor economy and demonstrate innovation and distinctiveness.
Corrie Ince, Show Director for the South of England Show, said, “We are absolutely delighted, it means so much to us as it focusses on our flagship event that we worked very hard to hold during the pandemic. It was such a difficult time for everyone, and with restrictions and government guidelines in place, being able to hold a three-day show safely on a large-scale was no mean feat.
“We would like to thank Tourism South East and the Beautiful South judges as well as our staff, volunteers, competitors and exhibitors that strived to make the show happen in 2021. We would particularly like to thank all the people who attended the South of England Show, many of whom have been coming for many years and hold the show very close to their hearts.
“We look forward to welcoming more people to this year’s South of England Show from the 10th-12th June this year, and thanks to the lifting of Covid restrictions, the 2022 is going to be even more fantastic than 2021!.”
