Discover the history and traditions of the South East with our exciting heritage displays and demonstrations taking place across all three days of the Show.


Saxon, Viking & Medieval Re-Enactment Area
Travel back in time and come face to face with your ancestors! Step into the Iron Age and try warrior training with Experience the Iron Age, before you journey in to camp life in the Dark Ages. Find out about life as an Anglo Saxon with Herigeas Hundas and meet a band of Viking invaders with Jotunns Wrath. You can also meet Knights of the 15th century with Hartleys Companie and learn about late medieval warfare. And this year follow their Secret Shield trail hidden around the show to solve the mystery and collect a small prize!

Weald & Downland Museum
Meet the team from this wonderful independent living museum, who have a collection of over 50 historic buildings from the Saxon era to the early 20th century. As part of their work to demonstrate and share skills, crafts, and stories of rural life in the South East, they’ll be doing demonstrations of a range of traditional trades.

British Army
The British Army will be in attendance with an Army village highlighting aspects of its varied roles. There will be Corps Engagement Teams representing the Royal Armoured Corps, Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, and Army Medical Services. Additionally, there will be interactive activities demonstrating Courage (Climbing Wall), Confidence (BATAK machines) and Resilience, just some of the qualities that are enforced within the Army.

Emergency Services
Talk to the Emergency Services including Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire & Rescue, and the Animal Rescue Team. There will be plenty of their vehicles for you to explore!

Vintage Machinery Area
The South Eastern Vintage Agricultural Club are once again bringing vintage tractors, implements and farm machines displaying the labour that went in to farming in the past. With tractors from all decades, steam engines, stationery engines, wood working displays and working agricultural models. Click here for their ring timetable.

Model Boat
Portsmouth Model Boat Club are bringing their pool and model boats. For a small donation, have a go at operating model boats from yachts to steam powered boats with this club that was founded in 1909.

The Story of Wool
With the help of the National Sheep Association South East, 100 sheep will be sheared over the 3 days with local sheep farmers talking about sheep farming and wool production. There will be a range of fleeces on display from different breeds so you can really understand the differences in the wool. You can also meet the East Grinstead Spinners & Weavers who will be demonstrating and talking about their age old skills.

Traditional Crafts Area
Featuring demonstrations in ancient skills such as trug, stick, hurdle and basket making. You can even make your own corn dolly.

New! Wildlife & Food Production
Highlighting the challenges faced in the South East and the amazing initiatives farmers and organisations have in place to help overcome these demands. Discover how food is produced in the South East alongside supporting the vast array of wildlife and different landscapes.
Come speak to peers and experts about how they manage their land. Find how food is produced locally and nationally as well as initiatives in the South East to enhance the quality of food produced whilst looking after our wildlife and natural habitats.
