

Equestrian
Our equestrian events are back for another year! Visitors can watch national and international riders and horses at the top of their game competing in a full programme of exciting events, including showjumping, showing and scurry driving. This year will also see the return of our popular Heavy Horse Village and the thrilling Shetland Pony Grand National.

Showjumping
We have a full programme of top-class international level showjumping throughout the event. This year, showjumping will take place on all three days in the Balcombe Ring, as well as in the Ardingly Ring, where you can watch the Grand Prix spectacular, along with the International Stairway class. Sunday will see the return of the Sunshine Tour qualifiers for unaffiliated showjumpers in the Cuckfield Ring.

Scurry driving
Scurry driving is a fast-paced sport where a pair of ponies pull a carriage around a course, aiming to get the fastest time. Watch our competitors take part in small and large scurry heats and the scurry driving championship in the main ring on Saturday.Â

Showing
We’ll be welcoming showing competitors from across the country to the South of England Show. Visitors of all ages will be delighted by a range of competitions, including ridden hunters, mountain & moorland ponies, elegant side saddle, the Horse Trust’s Healthiest Body Condition Awards, London International Horse Show and Royal International Horse Show qualifiers and more, plus the return of the Rising Star classes.

Heavy Horse Village
Owners go to enormous lengths to groom and prepare these gentle giants of the agricultural world before they take centre-stage in the main Ardingly Ring. Come along to the Heavy Horse Village, get up close, talk with the horses’ owners and discover more about the different breeds.

Hackney Horses
Don’t miss the ever-popular Hackney Horse classes in the Main Ardingly Ring on Friday. The Hackney Horse & Pony are ‘critical’ on the Rare Breeds Survival Trust List and the Hackney Horse Society aims to promote the breed.Â

Equestrian shopping stands
From jodhpurs and dressage jackets, to brushes, shovels and other tack room accessories, you’ll find some great purchases at our equestrian shopping stands.

Equestrian Games UK
Come and cheer on the teams during the fast-paced thrilling races and watch them vault on at speed. The sport takes a tremendous amount of skill and athleticism as well as trust between rider and pony.
Watch in the main ring at the following times:
Friday – 12.10pm
Saturday – 3.10pm
Sunday – 12.45pm

Watch farriers compete in horse shoeing and shoe making. Each class takes approximately 55 minutes and will be running continuously throughout the three days. With experts and apprentices taking part under the intense heat of the shoeing area, this is not to be missed.
