Food & Farming

Food and Farming is an exciting campaign to help young people – and some older ones too - to learn more about the countryside, where our food comes from and how it reaches us.  There will be an emphasis on the importance of environmental issues and the development of healthier lifestyles and good nutrition with a strong focus on British food.

Cookery Demonstrations

Chefs at the NFU Meet the Farmer Exhibit will be demonstrating their culinary skills and showing how the products of agriculture are used to make delicious meals.

Countryside Attractions

There’s a host of countryside attractions at the Show and fascinating insights into what makes the countryside tick…a whole educational experience for all the family.

Reducing ‘food miles’ for the good of your taste buds is just one reason why more and more people are choosing to buy locally grown and produced food.  And the South of England Show is just the place to find a delicious range of locally-produced produce – from cheese and chutneys to pies and premium chocolate brownies.

The Year of the Bee

The Year of the Bee

The Show will have an extra ‘buzz’ of excitement this year in recognition of the plight of the humble bee. The international trade in honey bees has spread pests and diseases which threaten the imminent survival of native British bees – and with them will go flora, fauna and one third of our diet. At the Bees & Honey Marquee, exhibits will show how honey is made as visitors peer inside the glass panels of the observation hives, and experts will be on hand to give advice to anyone interested in taking up bee-keeping.
