The EcoVillage

The EcoVillage at the South of England Show will feature almost 100 green’ exhibitors, interactive displays, demonstrations and a picnic area.

The area can be found on the corners of Central Avenue and 6th and 7th Street, as shown in green on the Show Map.

The EcoVillage has a wide range of exhibitors, from renewable energy to luxury handmade bags and accessories, garden products to green wedding services! There is something for everyone, all provided by green, sustainable and ethical organisation and businesses.

Riverford Organic Veg, sponsors of The EcoVillage picnic area will be displaying their full range of organic fruit and veg boxes, along with wide range of other products ranging from milk and eggs to beers and wines.  They will also be bringing the ‘Riverford Cooks’ campaign to The EcoVillage, running rolling demonstrations, giving simple hints and tips for the beginner cooks, and hopefully providing even the expert cook with some new ideas. Seasonal dishes will be cooked up throughout the day and small tasters will be available for you snack on.

The EcoVillage team are really pleased to be involved with the South of England Show, as the South of England Agricultural Society is already committed to helping the environment. Last year's Show featured Recycle Zone bins which were set up all round the Showground, and monitored to ensure low contamination rates within collected material. The South of England Agricultural Society already has environmentally friendly toilets, designed to reduce water use and make use of rainwater harvesting. Environmental concerns feature within the Society's objectives, to which end they have formed a Green Agenda Working Party to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of future developments within the Society.

Although events are key in promoting small businesses, especially those with green credentials, it is widely accepted that the events themselves can have considerable environmental costs in terms of waste and local impact, so we're pleased to be able to bring our EcoVillage event to a Showground that is already working on reducing their environmental impact.

Don't miss this new and exciting area for ideas on sustainability, innovation and green initiatives.
