ANNIE GET YOUR GUN FOR THE AUTUMN SHOW & GAME FAIR - 03/10/2009

This year sees the launch of a unique Ladies High Gun Prize Competition at The South of England Agricultural Society’s Autumn Show & Game Fair.

The £100 High Gun Prize is thought to be the first of its kind having never occurred before at local or national competitions. Clay shooting is the fastest growing sport in the UK with women being able to compete within the same format as men. There is nothing to stop women being equal in the sport of clay shooting and this exceptional prize truly reflects this philosophy.

The Clay Shoot is organised by Dan Kerwood of Northall Clay Pigeon Club, Fletching, East Sussex. This is the club’s third year at the Autumn Show & Game Fair and the interest in the clay shoot is growing year on year. Its inclusion at the Show gives families the ideal environment in which to shop and shoot!

Dan’s daughter Charlotte Kerwood has distinguished credentials in the sport and while she will not be competing (it is not her specific discipline) she will be supporting the event and may indulge in a fun shoot. Charlotte is Twice Ladies Double Trap Commonwealth Games Champion & Ladies Double Trap (pairs) gold medallist 2002 & 2006. World class competitor in the ladies Olympic Trap. Beijing Olympic Games 2008 Olympian for Great Britain in the Olympic Trap discipline.

Charlotte explains “The £100 High Gun Prize for women is a fantastic idea. In my discipline I have never won that amount, even at the major competitions such as the British or English. With more and more women coming into the sport it’s really great to offer a high value prize as an incentive for the ladies sport”.

The Autumn Show & Game Fair takes place on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2009. It offers all the family an opportunity to savor the sights and sounds of the countryside at harvest time. Country sports & crafts, falconry, a dog agility show, vintage machinery, mouthwatering local food and drink, stunning displays of seasonal flowers and vegetables, a funfair and a wealth of trade stands combine to offer the perfect day out in the Sussex countryside.
