Together Internationally
International Farmlink Travel Bursary
History
The International Farmlink Scheme is funded by the South of England Agricultural Society and administered by the International Farmlink Committee. Over the past 30 years the Society has sent over 200 farming couples and groups on exchange visits and study tours fostering understanding and good relationships with our friends throughout the world.
Participants are provided with an opportunity as individuals, couples or groups to study a specific aspect relevant to their current or future land based enterprise. Topics may cover a wide variety of matters relating to agriculture, forestry, viticulture, horticulture, estate management, land-based tourism, smallholdings, equipment supply and fisheries. Reciprocal exchanges are encouraged but trips can also be one off study tours.
The International Farmlink Committee welcomes you to join them for refreshments at the International Pavilion at the Society’s Annual Show in June each year, where advice and help about the Scheme is readily available, as will be Committee members and previous beneficiaries of the scheme.
Upgraded Travel Award
The purpose of the new upgraded Travel Award is to provide a significant contribution to the travelling costs incurred by farmers, or others, engaged in land based industries who are planning to study a specific enterprise, located overseas, where the objective is to incorporate the enterprise or expertise into their own South East based business. For example, have you always wanted to go to New Zealand to study their sheep farming techniques? Or go to the USA to see how milk production is done on a large scale? The Travel Award could provide funds which help you develop your business.
There are now two awards of £2,000 available in 2012. Click here for an application form and further details.
