Jim Green Memorial Competition
The competition has been held annually since 1999 in recognition of Jim Green’s life long interest in the education and training of young people. It is designed for students with mild or moderate learning difficulties attending land based Colleges and Further Education Centres. As well as providing evidence of work that they have completed on their training course they also take part in a competition day of practical tasks. 10 teams took part in 2009 and the Overall Winner was the Teals Team from Chichester College (Brinsbury Campus). 10 teams have entered to take part in the competition in 2010 which will take place in March at the South of England Centre. Look out for examples of their work which will be on show in the Education Marquee at the Spring and South of England Shows.
Young Craftsman of the Year this Competition embraces two of the South of England Agricultural Society’s objectives, namely to promote crafts and skills and to encourage young people to extend themselves and produce work of a very high quality. It is hoped that the Awards will provide financial assistance and publicity to encourage the successful candidates to pursue and extend their skills.
See section on Young Craftsman of the Year for more information and entry forms.
